Our daughter commenced guitar lessons with Brendon on a weekly basis in February 2024.

Brendon is a great guy and an excellent teacher. He takes time to get to know his students, to understand the music that inspires them and creates step-by-step plans to get them to where they want to be. He is meticulous and looks to build musicality and extinguish bad habits before they start forming. In July 2023 our eldest daughter wanted to learn guitar and Brendon came highly recommended by multiple people. I have also always wanted to learn and thought it would be a great thing to do together, so we signed up for lessons, and more than 18 months later we are still attending these weekly.
Music has always been a part of my life, although it has been many years since I have undertaken any lessons personally, and I have been surprised by a few things.
One is what an incredible and authentic musician Brendon is. It is rare to have someone with such a high calibre of talent teaching absolute beginners—let alone being so humble about their talent. His skill and musicality is insane and something that we often sit in awe of. Needless to say, since we have been going to lessons we have also been trying to attend as many of Brendon’s performances as possible to see him in action and enjoy his music.
Second is Brendon’s teaching style. He provides the perfect environment to learn by his gentle, patient and enthusiastic nature—he builds people up rather than ever makes them feel silly and gets genuinely excited by his students’ progress.
I have been extremely impressed by the way that he teaches and how he makes his lessons engaging and enjoyable from the very start. Gone is the ‘old school’ approach of getting stuck on the basics and quitting out of boredom, rather Brendon ensures that the basics and foundations are still taught (and definitely doesn’t take shortcuts or let students get into lazy habits) whilst also keeping the students interested, having fun and seeing obvious progression.
And third is how much greater the impact Brendon’s lessons have on people’s lives than just improving their guitar skills. I have watched my shy daughter who lacked confidence find a real love of music, a confidence in herself, and learn so many life lessons along the way. She has learnt that it doesn’t matter if you make mistakes or sound silly, that with practice hard things become easy, that if you never try you never discover how good you might be at things, and most importantly she has learnt that you don’t need to be perfect—you need to be happy.
I would not hesitate to recommend Brendon as an exceptional musician, a wonderful teacher and just an all-round great person.

We cannot recommend Brendon Coleman highly enough as a children’s guitar teacher! From the very first lesson, he made learning the guitar an enjoyable and engaging experience for our child. Brendon has a fantastic ability to connect with kids, using fun techniques to teach essential skills. I love how he tracks progress and sets achievable goals, celebrating every little victory, which has boosted my child’s confidence immensely.
